Reflective Journaling for Self-Discovery

What is Reflective Journaling?

Why do we struggle with depression, panic, or rage despite not wanting to? Why do we fail so utterly to stop the ruminating thoughts? Do we truly have control over our own will? What are the root causes of those feelings?

Journaling is often underestimated as a powerful tool for healing. Writing doesn't have to be a long and arduous task; focusing on specific areas can be incredibly effective. For example, studies have shown that participants who wrote about significant life events for just 15–20 minutes on 3–5 occasions experienced significantly better physical and psychological outcomes than those who wrote about neutral topics.

Embark on a journey of self-discovery through writing. Gradually untangling life's complexities one paragraph at a time, find inner peace, and become your true self.

Meet the Instructors

Jerry Wu, the author of “Heart, So Close, Yet So Far” (translation in progress). For nearly thirty years, I’ve passionately immersed myself in a wide range of spiritual studies, ancient to modern, Eastern and Western, especially with Buddhism and Chan/Zen. The journey has also taken me deep into neuroscience, clinical psychology, philosophy, and various domains. All in the quest to unravel the mysteries of life.

I’ve done the homework, fought the battles with my own brain, walked the path, crossed the finish line, and returned to the natural state—a permanent, transformative paradigm shift in how the mind perceives reality.

Extensive experience in meditation, self-hypnosis, and Qi/Energy work, combined with years of relentless self-inquiry, have led to profound insights into healing and awakening. Now, I’m excited to invite you to join the journey of self-discovery!

Course Overview

The workshop and course feature a 90-minute journaling exercise that introduces the day’s topics, followed by quiet writing time and a discussion session where participants share and explore collective wisdom.

How would you benefit from this course?

  • For each writing session, we’ll focus on a theme, introduce key concepts, and revisit our framework of thinking. Uncover any assumptions and beliefs that potentially deceive us.

  • The writing process might be uncomfortable at first, as it involves confronting emotions or feelings you've tried to ignore or dismiss. But you don’t have to go through it alone. We are here to support our community members through our Reflective Journaling circle.

  • Incorporate various healing methods to help reduce the impact of emotions and unwanted feelings. At the cognitive level, you might find yourself battling with your own thoughts and feelings. Healing techniques like eye movement or hypnosis approach the problem differently. Instead of struggling against your mind, these methods seemingly work on the brain’s physiological level, helping to "untangle" neural knots and facilitate healing.

  • Harness the collective wisdom and social support of like-minded peers to turn journaling into a truly transformative experience.

Who should take this course?
